It would be crazy to think the theme of the month is Switch. Why on earth would you even think such a thing?
You've got Switch on the brain, that's your problem.
No, we're dealing with Toggles.
Off and On.
One or Zero.
True or False.
Do you toggle on the lights?
Or do you toggle the direction of the path, to make the tram run over the Nuns?
What could the Toggle be about?
Let me know if you've got any game ideas in the comments or the Discord, and I'll try my best to implement as many of the ideas as I can into the month ahead.
... Presuming I'm not too busy playing on the Toggle Switch 2.
Meanwhile
I've been working on FiveWords for the past couple of days, and I *think* it's now all functioning in a way that feels a bit more repeatable. Or at least, it no longer seems to be freaking out as much when refreshing the page, 'cos that was all kinds of messy.
No, now things are much more presentable, and with the short introduction clip, hopefully they're more obvious to people who haven't played the games before.
.. Maybe.
Either that or everyone will be confused as to what's the introduction clip and the actual game. Hmmm.
I did try my best to make the "How to Play" screen really distinct.
And there's a Start button.
That's obvious enough, right?!
Hmmm..
Meanwhile, Meanwhile...
I discovered that DrawThings on the Mac now allows you to install the WAN video generator model, as well as then rendering videos.
But on a poor little MacMini M4, it's not exactly the fastest thing you ever did see.
Methodology
DrawThings and Flux were used to render the first frame using the Derek LoRA, and then DrawThings and WAN were used to render the video, based solely on the image, because the Derek LoRA is built for Flux, not for WAN
I definitely need to see if I can improve that speed.
That's crazy!
Will I ever use this functionality?
Not really likely is it? Unless I want to render a video 24 hours in advance of writing the blog!!!
I set off a video, rendering.
It said it might take several hours to do.
So I sat and I watched it for a minute or two.
And three, four and five, even more.
And then the estimated time of the render,
It went sky high. It went crazy.
I watched it jumping to an hour, then three, four and five.
And now it's saying it'll probably be ten and a half.
[bridge]
Good grief.
It wouldn't even take that long, if I rendered each frame and stitched them all along.
Good grief.
I wonder why so long. In that time I bet you I could write a game.
Or three.
It's insane to me that it could take so long.
So I left it at that, and I did write a game, and when I came back.
It was only halfway done.
[refrain]

[outro]
And it did take ten and a half hours to complete.
Eighty one frames of animation.
And it was only at 480p, as well.
Why so long?
I don't know.
I don't think I'll be doing that again.
[Dave is arranging a display of ScrunchCakes on a table after the service. The Vicar approaches]
Vicar: Hello, David. I see you've brought more of your... interesting concoctions.
Dave: I thought you might like to try the new Cookie ScrunchCake! It's like a cookie, but better!
Mrs Thompson: [arriving with tea] We've been experimenting with this, all week.
Vicar: [taking a bite] Oh... that's... different.
Dave: Good different?
Vicar: There's still sausage in this.
Dave: It's still the Scrunch surprise!
Vicar: Why are they called ScrunchCakes, anyway? Shouldn't they be a Sausage Cake?
Dave: Nah. 'cos then Gregg might steal my idea.
Vicar: Didn't you steal their Sausage Roll, first?
Dave: It's like programming. You need a base architecture to build upon. And this base is a sausage.
Vicar: Like a Sausage Roll?
Dave: Sure. But scrunchy. And that's how it got its name.
Vicar: [looking around] Did anyone understand that?
Mrs Thompson: From what I've learned about David, this is an almost sensible name.
Dave: Everything's better with sausage! It's fundamental!
Vicar: OK, I'm lost.
Dave: [enthusiastically] Oh! Let me explain the thermal dynamics of sausage integration!
Mrs Thompson: I'll get you a normal cookie, Vicar.
Vicar: I'd prefer a Rich Tea.
Dave: With a sausage?
Mrs Thompson: David, behave.
Dave: But the molecular structure...
Vicar: [to Mrs Thompson] Perhaps just tea next week?
Dave: [calling after the retreating Vicar] With a sausage? [to Mrs Thompson] Jot that down. ScrunchTea..
Mrs Thompson: I am NOT writing that down.
