Friday is kind of a deadline for me. If I haven't yet started a game for Monday, I'd better bloomin' well get crackin'!
-=-=-
It was ROASTING yesterday, with the little thermometer reaching 35 degrees at one point.
Yikes!
I don't think I've ever seen it get that hot, and I'm slightly worried that the thermometer might've been ever so slightly broken, because 35 is WAY too hot!!! Especially here in the UK. We normally hit mid to high 20s, not 30s!
Crazy!
We didn't go for a walk in that. We stayed at home. Mum was mostly sat out in the garden, crazy Mum, but I stayed inside with the nice new fan blowing endlessly for most of the day.
A few hours later, Mum came in and was gobsmacked that I was playing a nice new word game that didn't exist earlier in the day.
.. She should know, by now, that this is how AGameAWeek goes, yet she's still someone confounded by the speed I can manage to do these things.
I'll be releasing Sunigma on Monday. It's a nice little game, but I need to rejig a couple of quirks that are popping up. But, yeah, good game.
.. Now, I wonder what JSE tweaks I'll be fiddling with over the weekend!
[verse]
The sun is shining down upon me as I code another game.
Taking aim at all the joy that might be made from forming words.
Placing letters round the sun, as it beams a happy smile.
I like to make a game. I like to make a game.
(Woo!)
[drop][chorus]
Making games is all the fun that I need. (all the fun I need)
I'll keep on making games until my fingers bleed. (that's not a nice image)
Look at me still typing after writing a new game. (please stop)
It might be sunny outside, but I'll stay here and make another game.
(stop it)
(get outside)
(go for a walk
(enjoy yourself)
[verse]
Inside I'm sitting on the couch, my laptop on my knees,
Protecting me from evil sun rays, beaming down on me.
I'll stay in here. [beat] It's much more fun to code all day.
Making more and more exciting games which everyone can play.
(Woo!)
[drop][chorus]
Making games is all the fun that I need. (all the fun I need)
I'll keep on making games until my fingers bleed. (that's not a nice image)
Look at me still typing after writing a new game. (please stop)
It might be sunny outside, but I'll stay here and make another game.
(stop it)
(get outside)
(go for a walk
(enjoy yourself)
[bridge]
(Seriously though, you should get out more. Put down the laptop and get outside)
(I'm sure there's lots that you can do, if you weren't keeping out of the sun, inside.)
(Why not go for another long walk, you can go to the canal or a stroll 'round the park.)
(Just don't spend every day in the house, doing endless coding and not much else.)
[drop][chorus]
Making games is all the fun that I need. (all the fun I need)
I'll keep on making games until my fingers bleed. (that's not a nice image)
Look at me still typing after writing a new game. (please stop)
It might be sunny outside, but I'll stay here and make another game.
(stop it)
(get outside)
(go for a walk

Int. Dave's Games and ScrunchCakes - Saturday Morning
[The shop is bustling. Several customers are seated at the new tables, some eating ScrunchCakes while others play on retro handhelds]
Mrs Thompson: David, table three needs clearing!
Dave: I'll be there. Just showing this gentleman Dizzy.
Green: I'll get it.
Dave: Thanks! Did you know Dizzy was almost in 3D?
[Customer approaches counter with both a ScrunchCake and a game]
Customer: Can I pay for both here?
Dave: Of course! Would you like a purple one too?
Green: Dave, she's obviously just buying a vanilla one.
Dave: But purple goes well with everything!
Mrs Thompson: David, less selling, more cleaning. And table three needs clearing.
Dave: OK, I'll get right on it. Greenie, help this lady with her purple ScrunchCake.
Customer: I don't want a purple one.
Green: It's ok, nobody likes the purple ones.
[Joe peers through the window with Andy]
Joe: It's actually working.
Andy: Who'd have thought? Games and cakes.
Joe: You know, I bet if we did something similar at my store, we'd be a banging success, too.
Andy: Probably wouldn't hurt if we didn't keep closing shop so we could come and watch Dave.
Joe: [giving Andy an evil glare] We need to come up with a competing idea. How about Computers and.. um..
Andy: Kebabs?
Joe: No, that'd be too greasy. Curries? Yeah, we could do Computers and Curries.
Andy: So.. Curry's PC World?
Joe: We're gonna need a plan.
